As an esthetician, you might be wondering why I am so interested in hair loss? Well, I am embarrassed to admit that after all of my years of skin training and advanced education, I was completely unaware of the importance of scalp health. I began to experience hair loss three months after having Covid-19. I found myself having anxiety over not knowing how long this was going to last and began constantly checking my hairline. I researched all articles availabel to help restore what was falling out. In May of 2021, I ventured to Dallas, Texas to attend a Hydrafacial HFX Event  and to my surprise learned so much about hair loss via the Hydrafacial Hydravive Scalp Treatment.

When I brought in the Hydrafacial System into my business, I did not consider the Hydravive Scalp Treatment and dismissed it as not necessary. While at the HFX Event, I was exposed to all of the reasons for hair loss and had an epiphany about scalp health and how it relates to healthy hair. I was also able to experience the treatment for myself.

Of course! The scalp is literally an extension of the face. Why would the same rules not apply? I learned that dry skin, clogged hair follicles, dead skin, and poor circulation all contribute to poor scalp health and hair loss. I also learned that 30% of the U.S. population alone suffers from hair loss…that is over one hundred million people!

There are many reasons for hair loss. Hormonal hair loss, or Androgenic Alopecia, can happen as early as the twenties but generally shows up at 35. Men notice it right away, but it can go unnoticed in women for a while since we do not often look at the crown of the head.

Other reasons for hair loss can involve autoimmune disorders, hormone changes, cancer treatments, poor nutrition, iron deficiency, drug use, extreme stress caused by life events and traction from  continued hairstyles…think braids, ponytails, dreadlocks. In addition to these, dry shampoo and hair products that are used extensively wreak havoc on the scalp. We are shampooing less and experiencing more hair loss as a society.

After 6+ years of research, Hydrafacial brought to market a treatment that addresses the scalp just like the face. They found that when the environment of the scalp was made healthy, the appearance of the hair followed the same trend.

Using the same cleansing procedure as the Hydrafacial protocol and infusing biomemetic growth factors and proteins, hair took on a healthier and fuller appearance. In short, when the scalp is healthy, the hair is given the perfect growing ground to become the best it can be!

A full treatment course includes three in office treatments and daily application of take home product for 30 days in between. Ninety days of treatment in all. After this, continued use of the at home product and one treatment every 6-8 months is recommended.

I left Dallas in complete awe of the Hydrafacial Keravive Scalp Treatment and could not wait to get home to help as many people as possible…including myself. I have returned to a normal state of wellbeing with both my scalp and hair. This treatment is a must for anyone who wants the healthiest hair possible!
